Über mich

Hi, I’m Victoria Markl

MASTER TAILORESS & HISTORICAL FASHION EXPERT

My fascination with historical fashion began in Vienna – surrounded by theatres, museums, and centuries of history. As a child, I was captivated by costume films from the 1950s, always wondering how such beautiful garments came into being.

That curiosity never left me. What started as a teenage experiment with an inexpensive sewing machine, an ill-suited pattern, and entirely the wrong fabric marked the beginning of something lasting. After training at a fashion school, I completed my Master Craftsman’s Certificate in 2020 – and at the end of 2025, I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to this work.

My main area of expertise is European fashion of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries. I have gained professional experience in theatre costuming at the National Theatre Mannheim, as well as through an internship and freelance work at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. Alongside this, I work as a fashion history consultant for private individuals and companies.

I believe in skilled handwork, carefully selected materials, and patterns that are as close to the original as possible. Every garment is made to measure – designed with close attention to the person who will wear it.

Wearing historical fashion is not about disguise. It is about experiencing history on one’s own body. If that resonates with you, I’d love to hear about your project.
