Hi, I’m Victoria Markl

MASTER TAILORESS & HISTORICAL FASHION EXPERT

Hello! I’m Victoria, and I’m from Vienna in Austria where I also live and work.

I taught myself how to sew but decided to learn it on a professional level and went to Kunst Mode Design Herbstrasse where I also attended the masterclass for stage costumes after the basic training.

In late 2020 I took my exam to get my Master Craftman’s Certificate. (Meistertitel).

Years before starting sewing I already loved historical fashion and costumes and it turned out to be the thing I’m passionate about.
My main area of expertise lies in european fashion in the 18th, 19th and 20th century. I also dipped my toes into theatre work at Nationaltheater Mannheim (Germany) and also had an internship and later worked freelance at Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien (Austria). I also work as a fashion history consultant for various private individuals and companies.

People don’t want to see clothes, they want to see something that fuels the imagination.

Alexander McQueen

In 2022 I started planning my own historical fashion label but I had so many different ideas that I wasn’t sure what I should lay my focus on. But finally in 2023 I decided to focus on what I do best: Working with fabrics, drafting patterns and researching historical fashion.

What I offer

✧ bespoke historical fashion and historically inspired evening wear

✧ ready to wear corsets and underpinnings

✧ multi size sewing patterns

✧ consultant for historical fashion

✧ fashion history talks (german and english)
